Arizona mother raises awareness on violence in teen dating

An Arizona mother is using her family’s experience to raise awareness on violence that can occur in teen dating.

Bobbi Sudberry co-founded non-profit, Kaity’s Way, after her 17-year-old daughter was killed by her boyfriend in 2008.

Kaity Sudberry began dating the young man in 2006. His aggressive behavior continued throughout the next two years until she ultimately ended the relationship and his violence escalated.

Through her dedication, Bobbi Sudberry and Arizona lawmakers were able to amend an Arizona statute on domestic violence to be inclusive of those in dating relationships, including teens, to be protected by the law. Students from Yuma high schools attended the presentation Friday morning.

For more information on the organization and on Kaity’s story, you can visit their website kaitysway.org.
