Teen girl struck by vehicle

A teenage girl was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after she was hit while crossing a street in Yuma. YPD said officers responded to 8 th Avenue and 22 th Street at 3:45 p.m. in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian injury accident.

The initial investigation revealed the 13-year-old girl was crossing 8 th Avenue, eastbound in the crosswalk, when she was struck by a passenger car that was turning onto 8 th Avenue from 22 nd Street.

The driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old woman, failed to see the girl while making the turn.

The pedestrian was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center with minor non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was cited on scene.
