Dog rescued from trailer fire

The Yuma Fire Department said a dog was rescued from a burning home Monday night. YFD said at about 8:20 p.m. a fire was reported in a trailer at the Twin Palms Trailer Park, 2660 West 16 th Street.

Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found heavy smoke and flames coming from under a single-wide mobile home in space #64. Firefighters were quickly able to extinguish the fire before it spread to the interior of the home, or to other nearby structures.

An interior search found that the only occupant of the home at the time of the fire was a dog. The dog was successfully rescued and after being given some oxygen appeared to be fine.

The resident was determined to be out of town at the time of the fire. YFD personnel remained on scene on “fire watch” for flare ups. Investigators were on the scene this morning working to determine the cause of the fire.
