Suspect escapes from hospital; Being sought by El Centro Sector Border Patrol

The El Centro Sector Border Patrol is seeking public assistance in finding a 27-year-old man who escaped from custody while receiving medical attention at the El Centro Regional Medical Center on Wednesday.

Agents say, Raul Esparza is a U.S. Citizen. Esparza was arrested on felony and alien smuggling charges.

While in Custody, Esparza showed signs of medical distress and was taken to the hospital for care, according to Agents.

Esparza was able to escape from Border Patrol custody at the hospital around 10 a.m. on February 8, according to El Centro Sector Border Patrol.

Agents say an extensive search was conducted at and around the hospital but they were not able to find Esparza.

Esparza is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 135 pounds. He is described as having a light complexion.
