Local humane sociey partners with Wings Of Rescue

Forty-nine pups will have a new place to call home thanks to The Humane Society of Imperial County.

This morning the k-9’s took flight to their new destination in Idaho. The humane society partnered with Wings Of Rescue in hopes of finding forever homes for man’s best friend.

Volunteers helped board the 49 dogs onto a plane and wished them well for their journey ahead.

“Idaho humane society, they average about 80 adoptions a week,” mentioned Devon Apodaca, Director of The Human Society of Imperial Valley.

After the pups land in Boise they will be groomed, bathed and check out by a vet.

“Most of them will go into foster care, and from there they are adopted and usually whenever they have pulled the animals from us within two weeks they’ve all been adopted,” explained Apodaca.

Wings Of Rescue has helped save the life of over 24,000 pets and their work is fully funded by donations.

“It’s very important for everyone to be aware that this problem exists and it exists all around you. Even in a shelter near you and you may not even be aware of it,” said Yehunda Netanel, Founder and President of Wings Of Rescue.

Netanel says there is a solution to helping the problem of overpopulated shelters.

“Let’s take some responsibility, spay and neuter your pet so unwanted pets are not going to be born and we will not have the phenomenon we have here where unfortunately a lot them have to be euthanized,” added Netanel.

By now the pups have landed in Boise, Idaho. Organizers say they hope to have the most of them adopted by this weekend.
