Border Patrol seize 43 pounds of meth
U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a 19-year-old man after they found 43 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in the car he was in.
The incident happened Monday morning when the man drove up to the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton City.
Agents say they sent the man to secondary inspection after a K-9 team alerted the 2010 Ford Fusion he was driving.
During the inspections, agents say, they found 30 packages of meth hidden in the car gas tank.
The drugs are estimated to have a street value of more than $170,000.
The man, a U.S. citizen, and the drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
