Women’s March movement coming to Yuma

It was the day after the Inauguration that brought millions together nationwide.

Now, three local women are bringing the Women’s March movement to Yuma. Co-organizer Alberta Wallace says she felt “empowerment” when she saw millions come together and stand for human rights.

“The word “empowerment” comes… I felt that the march was a way for women and men to feel empowered to know that yes a difference can be made even if you feel like you don’t have a voice and you can’t make a difference.”

The purpose of the “Sister Rally” is to bring awareness to not just women’s rights, but to human rights, especially at a time where families across the nation have been affected.Katie Fuchs is another co-organizer who hopes to see people put everything aside and support those affected.

“We really want to bring people together who are positive and making changes and looking at public policies affect the welfare of others being among the rights we will talk about”

“We are truly working together and being together that we can do this, doesn’t matter where we come from or what walk of life that we walked on that we can truly be together.” says co-organizer Tweedy.

The rally at Kennedy Park is expected to have about three hundred people, where everyone’s voices will be heard.
