NASCAR champion joins Brawley golf tournament to help local kids
Some came as far as Omaha, Nebraska, and some were as young as 11 years old. On Saturday morning, over a 100 golfers came together to help make the dreams of Imperial Valley kids come true.
Golf event organizer Justin Lofton said, “Incredible participation from people all over the country.”
The 7th Annual Golf event held at Brawley’s Del Rio Country Club is organized by professional off-road and NASCAR racer Justin Lofton.
“Something that we hope keeps going on and on for many years to come,” Lofton said.
He has raised thousands of dollars for charity.
“Given away two hundred and ten thousand dollars to the different organizations in the imperial valley,” Lofton said.
The Brawley native wants to inspire kids to dream big.
“Just because we’re in the imperial valley we’re not in any way not capable, or don’t have the ability, to go out and achieve big things in this world,” Lofton said.
NASCAR two-time champion Matt Crafton has supported the event since its beginning.
“It was always important to me because not every kid has everything given to them. Some of them have tougher lives,” Crafton said.
Eleven-year-old Ketch Sulpicil came with his dad because he wanted to help other kids, as well.
“Make their dreams come true,” Sulpicil said.
Lofton said he’ll continue holding the event because he wants to do his part for the boys and girls of Imperial Valley.
“Making sure that the next generation has the same opportunities that I did,” Lofton said.
