House fire homicide victim identified by Imperial police

The Imperial Police Department has identified the woman that was killed in a home fire Tuesday morning as 36-year-old Yunique Puckett Dorame.

A press conference was held by multiple agencies in the Imperial Valley Thursday morning to disclose the latest on the home fire that later turned into a homicide investigation. In the press conference it was also revealed that the victim’s car, that had been stolen Tuesday morning, was recovered Wednesday night in Brawley.

Officials said the body of Dorame was discovered in the master bedroom of the home. The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division conducted the autopsy. A preliminary inspection of the victim revealed the cause of death. As a result, the case has been ruled a homicide. Officials said they can not comment on the cause of death or the condition of the remains due to the ongoing investigation.

The Imperial County Fire Department responded to the home, located at 312 Chisholm Trial in Imperial, Tuesday morning. Imperial police said the 911 call was placed by a resident who lives on that street.

Officials said the fire was suspicious in nature, which led to the involvement of multiple agencies including surrounding cities’ fire personnel, law enforcement and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Officials said this was a single family home that had on person in the home at the time of the fire.

You are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. We will take every measure available to us to seek justice for the victim and her loved ones.”
