Arizona responds to inauguration polls

Inauguration day is just two days away. While many Americans say they are eager to see the swearing in of President-Elect Trump, polls tell a different story. According to CBS News, 48% of Americans disapprove of the way Donald Trump handed the 2016 presidential election. The poll released by CBS News shows Trump’s approval rate is 32% – The lowest of any President-Elect since 1981. On the other hand, many people disagree. Some say these numbers won’t change how they feel about the President-Elect. George Braun, an inauguration day volunteer, said Trump embodies change. “You’re going to see things change,” Braun said. “You’re going to see people making money again. I’m also going to see some of the friends I’ve lost over the years” Braun was given a badge of honor and an invitation to attend Trump’s inauguration. He said he feels optimistic leading to Friday. Similarly, Arizona Representative Don Shooter said he’s believed in Trump’s presidential proposal since the beginning. “I was one of the first elected officials in the country to support Donald Trump,” Shooter said. “That was when everyone thought I was crazy [and now] I don’t seem so crazy.” Despite support from some, 27 house members will boycott the inauguration – Including Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva. Congressman Grijalva said his absence is meant to support Americans who have felt disrespected by the Trump Administration.
