Yuma Contestant on “Wheel of Fortune”

It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. The “nerves” that Irene Foster had all morning completely vanished as she stepped on stage on “Wheel of Fortune”.

Irene Foster is a Marine wife and a homeschool teacher to her two boys. She grew up playing Scrabble with her Mom and loved doing crossword puzzles. However, solving puzzles for thousands of dollars isn’t as easy as it seems.

“You know at home you’re not thinking about..should I buy this consonant or buy a vowel. The wheel is heavy so you’re concentrating on spinning the wheel with force, and you don’t want to be a viral video looking like a dope, but it was so exciting.”

With a little help from prior experience on “Merv’s Griffin Crosswords” and “The Price is Right”, the third time seemed like a charm.

“It was very fulfilling, satisfying. You know when you wanted to do something you really wanted to do? And you finally get to do it? I decided no matter what happens, to make the best of it and a cool memory for my family at the very least.”

When I asked about the result, the answer remains a secret until the episode airs, but this won’t be the last time we will see Irene on the television screen.

“You know ten years from now- ‘Jeopardy’. I like to be a little older and wiser.”

Watch “Wheel of Fortune” tonight (January 18) at 6:30 MST/5:30 PST on NBC 11. Go, Irene!
