Man found dead in Yuma canal identified
The Yuma Police Department (YPD) has released the identity of a man found dead in a canal.
Officers say they believe 28-year-old Daniel Gonzalez drowned accidentally.
Gonzalez’ body was discovered by a jogger just after 4 p.m. Monday, prompting the witness to contact police.
YPD officers were dispatched to Avenue 4E and 36th Street around 4 p.m. on Monday.
After thorough investigation, police confirmed the body did not show signs of a struggle, leading authorities to believe it was an accidental drowning.
The man’s family has been notified.
YPD says the case is an ongoing investigation.
