Free Returns to Owners

The Humane Society of Yuma is having their “Pet Return” campaign reducing prices for reuniting pets with their owner.

As of right now, over fifty dogs have been taken to the humane society after being found from the New Year weekend. New Year’s Eve is one of the common holidays where pets go missing, due to loud noises of gunshots and fireworks. To help the situation, Annette Lagunas, is running a campaign to reunite pets with their owners.

“Today and tomorrow we are offering reduced fees for all the returned owners so this is to get all the animals back where they belong.”

Bailey has been missing her dog, Roxy, for weeks. She’s hoping someone might find her by the features she has.

“She ran away, we’ve been looking for ever since, she’s a black lab, a girl, she’s old, she has white hair on her paws, her mouth, if you call her by “Roxy” she’ll know.”

To save time and some stress, having your pet microchip is an easier way to find him/her than social media.

“We really encourage everyone to have that microchip for sure it’s a safety measure that can’t come out. It’s like a collar, it can’t come off, you don’t have a day off to come and find it, and you don’t have to go through all that stress, the one thing about chips is that you have to keep your information current”, Lagunas says.

If you’ve lost a pet or found one, contact the Yuma Humane Society or your community’s Animal Control Center to get your friend back or give someone theirs.
