Restaurant robbery suspect arrested
The man suspected of robbing a Mexican restaurant at gun point on Tuesday morning made his first court appearance Wednesday early afternoon.
Ricky Spencer’s, 38, bond was set $200,000 by the judge and his next court hearing is scheduled for Friday.
Yuma Police Department (YPD) officials said officers responded to an armed robbery call at Del Pueblo Birrieria, located at 1225 W. Eighth Street at 3:45 p.m.
YPD said the initial investigation showed a Hispanic man in his 20s, heavy set with a shaved head, wearing a black sweater and sunglasses, entered the business and demanded money. Officers said when the victim questioned if this was real, the suspect pulled a handgun out and demanded the money again. The suspect took about $400 in cash and fled the area, according to the restaurant’s owner.
Video surveillance was obtained and the suspect was identified Spencer by law enforcement. Spencer was located and arrested at 6:02 p.m. Spencer was booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Spencer is scheduled to be in court Wednesday at 1 p.m.
There were no reported injuries reference to this case.
