As the year comes to a close the world has lost yet another artist; George Michael died over the holiday weekend at his home in Goring, England. Born Georgios Panayiotou in North London, the singer started his career as a duet in the group Wham! which made chart toppers like “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” and “Freedom”.
He later began his solo career and earned several Grammys for his work. But, like many stars before him stardom came with a price; questions regarding his sexuality made life particularly hard for the pop star. More than three decades entertaining Michael’s was no stranger to the tabloids having been arrested for drugs and driving under the influence as well as his most famous arrest in a Beverly Hills bathroom.
Those who spoke about the singer asked that he be remembered for the joy he brought to the world and the difference he made for several non-profits.
