“Labor of Love” gives back to farmworkers.

Before the sun rises, forty thousand workers head to the fields, collecting produce for the community. “Labor of Love” is a local program that donates various items to farm workers.

Susan Sternitzke is a part of the cause, saying it makes her feel good to give back.

“We wouldn’t be able to eat fresh produce without them. It’s hard work, they’re very skilled, very talented. It’s a program that says “thank you” to the farm workers. We are able to go into the fields and surprise them with random acts of kindness. It’s a way to show our gratitude as a community and a “thanks” for all their hard work.

This holiday season, they’re collecting five dollar gift cards from various stores and restaurants for the workers.

“All of those that come into today, will stay here in Yuma. We recommend that it may be from Circle K, Mc Donalds, Burger King, something that would make sense if you have a five dollar gift card that you can actually purchase something. Grocery stores are good too.
