Border Patrol discover narcotics in a car’s transmission case

El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a man suspected of smuggling drugs inside the transmission case of his vehicle.

The suspect described as a 30 year old man was approached at the Border Patrol checkpoint in Salton City by a canine team that alerted authorities . Agents discovered five plastic wrapped bundles with cocaine and heroin like substances hidden in the car.

The narcotics had a combined weight of 12.25 pounds with an estimated street value of $145,150. El Centro Sector has seized more than 84.03 pounds of methamphetamine in the 2017 fiscal year.

The man, who is a U.S citizen, his vehicle and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
