I-8 on and off-ramps to Algodones re-open

Interstate 8 on and off-ramps to Algodones have re-opened.

Also Gordons ‘ Well Road eastbound exit is scheduled to re-open December 15. However, w estbound on and off-ramps for Fourth Avenue will remain closed.

Caltrans officials say, now that the Algodones exits have re-opened, crews have closed the eastbound exit ramps to Winterhaven Drive due to construction.

Caltrans crews are working on what’s called continuously reinforced concrete pavement on I-8. The project is designed to improve the road between El Centro and the Arizona border and give it a longer life.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2019.

Below are the detours Caltrans has set up for travelers to use during construction:

— Detour Eastbound I-8 Off-Ramp for Winterhaven Drive: Motorists will continue east on I-8 and exit Fourth Avenue.

— Detour Eastbound I-8 On-Ramp for Winterhaven Drive: Motorists will continue on Winterhaven Drive to the eastbound on-ramp to I-8 at Fourth Avenue.
