Rural/Metro crews use jaws of life twice in one day

Rural/Metro emergency crews rescued injured passengers from two separate car crashes by using the jaws of life.

Rural/Metro officials say the first incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday when a car and an SUV crashed in a t-bone type crash.

First responders had to use the jaws of life in order to get one of the patients out of the SUV. Two other people were also taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The second crash happened less than a day later on Araby Road and Highway 95 when a car and semi-truck also crashed in a t-bone type crash. One of the passengers was also extracted from the car with the jaws of life.

One firefighter shared a photo on his Snapchat story saying “Used the jaws twice in one shift, can’t beat it”.
