Shamrocks win close one!

Yuma Catholic boys basketball closed out the Southwest Rotary Classic with two tough losses and are now seeking a fresh start.

After notching a blowout win over Lake Havasu at Carol McElhaney Oden Gym a night ago, the Shamrocks had the task of winning two in row, as they next faced off against Rancho Solano Prep out of Scottsdale.

The battle against the Mustangs proved to be just that, as the Rocks had two three point plays in the final minutes by Jaylen Barnes and Blake Sandoval and some key defensive stops; especially in the final seconds of the game to secure the 61 to 58 victory.

Center Daniel Callendar led YC with a stellar triple double performance; putting down 13 points, coming away with 13 boards and 10 blocks.

Barnes finished with 15 points and 5 assists, while Sandoval came away with 10 points in the win.

The Rocks next go on a two-game road trip to close out this week and to start next week.
