Somerton shooting suspect facing $1 million bond

A man suspected of shooting another man in the face near a convenience store is behind bars and facing a $1 million bond.

Rodrigo Rodriguez was arrested after Somerton Police officers served a search warrant Friday.

Rodriguez is suspected of shooting a man in the face on November 6th following a fight near the Express Market in the area of Joshua Street and Somerton Avenue.

Officers say video footage shows multiple people present however only two individuals were fighting. The fight was eventually broken up but it wouldn’t end there.

According to police, the individuals from both parties and left the area heading in the same direction.

At some point, the vehicles ended up down the street near Musgrove Avenue and Crane Street. Neighbors in the area say shots were fired and police say a call came in around 3:30 p.m.

Officers said the vic tim of the shooting was taken to the police department moments later. He was shot and asking for help.
