“Stuff the Bus” with YCAT Transit

The YCAT transit system is teaming up with the Yuma Community Food Bank to give back to the community with their annual food drive, “Stuff the Bus” campaign.

It’s that easy. One can equal one free ride. The “Stuff the Bus” Campaign helps local families with perishable food donations raised by the community. Ruben Conchola, a driver for YCAT, has seen drivers get involved in the campaign and sees the food boxes filling up.

“Well, we’re getting a great response. It’s usually the passengers that look forward to it every year. I’d say about eighty percent of passengers bring the food in. “

In previous years, the campaign here in Yuma have received over ten thousand pounds worth of canned food. This year, they’re hoping for consistency and a record. The YCAT Transit director, Shelly Kreger, has been apart of the cause for the last five years.

“In 2014 it was 12,000 pounds, and last year it was 8,000 pounds, so there was a drop last year. Our goal this year is about 12,000 pounds.”

The campaign goes on until December 30th this year, so grab a can, give thanks, and enjoy the ride.
