Young Marines show their Red Ribbons

The Young Marines stopped by our studio, to speak with us about Red Ribbon Week.

“Red Ribbon Week” reminds us of the story of Kiki Camarena, a marine and drug enforcement agent, that was abducted, tortured, and murdered by drug lords.

The last week of October is known as Red Ribbon Week and celebrates the life and vision of Kiki’s life. Anti-drug enforcement is a key element in the Young Marine’s fight against illegal drugs in our community.

Julian Espinoza, a Young Marine, has been apart of this movement in the past and encourages the youth to join in on the cause.

” What we’re promoting, is to kids we have them take the pledge to be drug free, we have them sign their names so it’s official. We hand them their ribbons that say I pledge to be drug free, because we’re a drug free program and it kind of fits well with us. ”
