Members from First Things First and the University of Arizona’s First Smiles were on hand to show the congressman and other visitors their latest program.
Oral specialist at the learning center visit with children and provide them with screenings which in turn a report is sent home for their parents; the report details the child’s screening and what if any action should be taken.
In 2013, First Things First set out to curve the number of kindergartners with tooth decay; their goal was 32%. In 2015, First Things First not only met their goal, they exceeded it by 5%. Representatives from First Things First attribute their success to their local partners.
