African and Haitian migrants arrive at San Luis POE

The arrival of Haitian and African migrants is spreading from the ports of entry in Tijuana and Mexicali to San Luis Rio Colorado.

While Customs and Border Protection process the migrants, Mexican locals are reaching out to lend a helping hand.

Churches, charitable organizations and local residents have reportedly stopped by the Hotel International to drop off clothing and food, according to hotel staff.

Hotel staff also say that Mexican government officials like the Red Cross have stopped by to conduct medical exams and offer primary care to the men, women and children.

About 30 people have stayed at the hotel, according to hotel staff. Exact figures are unknown.

Customs and Border Protection at the San Luis POE declined to speak on the matter.
