Fallen officer with ties to Yuma remembered

Amberly’s Place, a local victim advocacy group pays to tribute to our heroes with a mural depicting a firefighter, police officer and a service member. But, the painting of a charismatic officer is connected to a fallen hero with ties to the desert southwest. During a service last week Officer Jon Coutchie of the Laguna Beach Police Department was remembered; On September 21 2013, Officer Coutchie was responding to reports of a reckless driver when he was involved in a collision. Coutchie’s grandparents lived in Yuma and as such spent his summers with them; his wishes were to be buried alongside them in Yuma.
