Somerton man busted with almost 26 pounds of meth

U.S. Customs and Border Protections said officers arrested a Somerton man after finding almost 26 pounds of methamphetamine in his car.

CBP said the arrest happened Sunday at the San Luis Port of Entry. The drugs have a value of almost $78,000. They were found in the rocker panels of the man’s Chevy sedan.

Officers said they seized the drugs and vehicle, and referred the suspect to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

Federal law allows officers to charge individuals by complaint, a method that allows the filing of charges for criminal activity without inferring guilt. An individual is presumed innocent unless and until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
