Chatwin becomes Imperial city manager

The Imperial City Council, in a 5-0 vote, approved a contract appointing Stefan Thomas Chatwin as the new city manager. The decision happened in a closed session following a regular meeting of the council.

Officials said Chatwin is a 1993 graduate of Brigham Young University. Upon receiving his bachelor’s degree in International Relations, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force serving for six years in various parts of the country and abroad.

According to a press release, in 1999, Stefan separated from the Air Force and spent the next two years in the library software and solutions industry developing business strategies and building strategic partnerships. Although he enjoyed a measure of success in the business world, he always felt there was something missing in his career. When an opportunity to serve as the Director of Community Services for the City of Ogden, Utah became available, he accepted the challenge.

That experience led him to Santaquin, Utah where he served as its City Manager for more than four years followed by almost seven years as the City Administrator for Hayden, Idaho.

Chatwin said he is excited about this new opportunity with the City of Imperial and looks forward to working with the staff, elected officials, and citizens to continue moving Imperial in a positive direction. Chatwin plans to begin his term as City Manager on October 3, 2016.
