Ribbons By The River Indigenous Fashion Show held in Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Pivot Point Conference Center hosted an Indigenous fashion show Thursday night.

"Ribbons By The River" was an event presented by makeup artist Olivia Esperanza, along with Jennifer Townsend and Jessica Roosevelt as the organizers.

The event highlighted different native tribes, artwork and Indigenous cultures by showing off some of the best fashion from designers.

With Indigenous Day being on Monday, Townsend said an event like the fashion show is a good reminder to be proud of where you come from.

"For us, it's a representation every day. As a designer, that's my main focus, is that we represent who we are and everything that we do," Townsend expressed. "Very proud of who we come from and who comes before us, and who's going to come after us. It's a really proud moment."

While Esperanza hosted events like the fashion show all across the country, she said she is honored she got to have it in the Yuma community for the first time.
