Yuma Neighbors United to host Dia de los Muertos event next month

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - A local nonprofit is hosting a Dia de los Muertos event next month to honor those who have lived in Yuma.

Yuma Neighbors United has cleaned up Pioneer Cemetery over the last few months as part of a long term project.

People can donate $5 and write the names of family member or loved ones on the memorial light.

The co-creators, Allan and Cheri Marx, said it's a really good event to give back to the community and also the cemetery.

"People should care for the cemetery because the cemetery is a history of Yuma. This is where 5,000+ souls have touched the lives and touched the grounds somewhere here in Yuma and made it a better place," Allan Marx said. "And we need to honor that for them, we need to take care of them and remember them for who they were."

Yuma Neighbors United will host the event on October 24 to set up the lights. For more information, click here.
