The Holiman’s journey of love and fostering
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A caring home can change the course of a child's life. With the great need for help in Arizona's foster care system, a local home is providing hope in Yuma!
Yuma Christian Academy principal Heather Holiman and Nova HomeLoans branch manager Jarrod Holiman have been married for 30 years, but their desire to foster started even before that.
"I started babysitting when I was 15 for a family that fostered, and so when we started dating, I said we're gonna foster. That was my heart," Heather expressed.
For nearly two decades, they have opened their home, and their hearts, to more than 25 children in crisis.
"We have three biological children, we have three adopted children, and we fostered over 20 children mostly siblings," said Heather.
They got into it to change the world and pour into the lives of the children. But they say the children have changed their lives far more than they will ever know.
"These children have changed our lives in 1,000 ways and our lives are fuller," said Heather.
After decades of being foster parents, they say they plan to turn their journey into a lifetime of love.
