Eye on Jobs: Tips for Servicemembers leaving the fighting force for the workforce

Career Expert Courtney Nelson wishes to make their transition as fluid as possible

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - It's a calling answered by only a few and those who are accepted are molded into our greatest of warriors, but military life may be more than some expect, leaving the fighting force to join the workforce.

In no way is the transition from the military to civilian life an easy one and that's why Career Expert with Goodwill Courtney Nelson says to make sure to start the phase as early as possible.

Nelson says to think about what you want to do once you return to civilian life. What interests do you have? What skills did you learn to help you take the next step? And what skills do you need to start your new career off right?

Nelson says that by the time your military contract ends, you should already have a start date. For those looking for options, the Goodwill Career Center has experts on hand to guide you through the process.
