AWC to host Seventh Multilingual Student Expo

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Western College San Luis Learning Center is inviting the community to attend the Seventh Multilingual Student Expo next week.

In a press release, the expo, with the theme being "Soundtrack of Languages: Music as a Multilingual Bridge," will be held at the center, located at 1340 N. 8th Avenue, in Multi-Purpose Room 104 on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

AWC says first-year English Composition students "are celebrating the way music brings people together, connecting individuals across languages and cultures" by singing, dancing and performing music in "multiple languages, showcasing how music serves as a universal language that bridges cultural gaps."

AWC also says those who attend will hear "personal stories from students, reflecting on how music and multilingualism have shaped their identities and lives" and "explore the cultural significance behind multilingual songs and offer insight into how music can help people learn new languages while fostering connections across diverse cultural backgrounds."

"Music has this incredible way of carrying our languages, emotions, and stories across borders without needing translation. Whether it’s a song you grew up with or one you just discovered, music connects us in ways words alone sometimes can’t. That’s exactly what we’re celebrating at this expo."

Dr. Sara Amani, Professor of Multilingual Composition/Specialist
