Imperial Irrigation District trying to reduce electric bill

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) is exploring a new program to possibly help Imperial Valley residents save some money, especially during summertime.

The program is known as 'Time of Use'. The IID says it has been consulting with residents to see how they feel about this program before they decide to roll it out or not.

Robert Schettler with the IID says this program could reduce customers' spending.

"Under the time of use should it be approved, there would be a time of use where during the day electricity would be more or less expensive, if you are in the period of use and shift your energy use, your rate could actually drop.

Schettler says you would have the power to choose whether or not you want to save some money.
