Local high school teacher goes above and beyond

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A local teacher is highlighted for her leadership in the classroom. Teacher and a Kofa King herself Andrea Ward teaches forensics and biology at her alma mater.

"I just like enjoying my job with my kids, so when they're excited, I'm excited," said teacher Andrea Ward.

Long time friend Matthew Keeling reached out to us highlighting her interactive teaching style

"You know, a lot of people might call Andrea a teacher. I don't know if I call her a teacher. I would say more of an inspiration leader," said friend Matthew Keeling.

She was named "Champion Teacher of the Semester" and previously nominated  for "Teacher of the Year" for Kofa High School 2023-2024.

"My passion really is just in learning and being there to inspire them to be amazing after high school," said Ward.

"She's inspiring students to become teachers," add sKeeling. "I think it's so important to recognize people in the community who are doing that, who are teaching the children of our future."
