Mobile WASP exhibit honoring WWII female pilots stops in Yuma
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Honoring the courageous women, who while serving in World War II, cleared the pathway for future female pilots.
Students at Fourth Avenue Junior High School in Yuma were able to check out the WASP mobile exhibit on Wednesday.
WASP is short for the Women Airforce Service Pilots.
These women were the first female pilots to operate U.S. military aircraft and overcame many adversities in the male-dominated service.
A school teacher shares what she hopes her students will gain from this unique experience.
"I want them to understand that there are no limits to what you can do, especially for the girls in my social studies class because I know al ot of them have big dreams so hopefully this can plant that seed and they can take off with it," says Karlynsia Terrazas, a Teacher at Fourth Ave. Jr. High School.
The exhibit will be open to the public on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the school.
They will also be available at the Airshow this Saturday at MCAS Yuma.
