YouTube to automatically detect and label AI-generated videos

(CBS, KYMA) - YouTube announced improved AI labels for viewers and creators Wednesday in order to more disclose the use of AI tools in videos more prominently.

The Google-owned video platform said these changes are designed to "balance transparency with creator control."

The AI label will now be directly below the video player for long-form videos and for Shorts, the label will appear as an overlay on the video itself.

"If a creator doesn't specify whether or not they used AI, but our systems detect significant photorealistic AI use," YouTube said in a blog post. "We will now automatically apply a label."
