Americans losing millions to romance scams

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KYMA, KECY)- According to the Federal Trade Commission, Americans are losing over $200 million to romance scams.

Federal Trade Commission officials said romance scammers begin by building relationships with their victims and then asking for money to get out of a so-called crisis.

In 2019 alone, more than 25,000 consumers filed reports on romance scams.
