Tooth be told, the need is great: local dentist to launch donation campaign

A Yuma Dentistry office is making a difference a smile at a time

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The dentist's office may not be at the top of anyone's list of favorite places to visit. But when you have a toothache, a dentist's office is the best place in the whole world to be in.

Dentists like Yuma's own Dr. Barrows specialize in keeping people's teeth chomping away but also making sure a patient's smile can be proudly shown.

If a healthy smile wasn't enough Dr. Barrows and his team have taken their contributions to their community, one step further.

They've started their "Whiten your smile and help a child" campaign to benefit both local and international nonprofits.

Between the months of March and June, proceeds from teeth whitening procedures will be donated to the chosen nonprofits.

In Yuma, Bridget's Gift has been chosen to receive said funds. According to Dr. Barrows' Lead Hygienist Andrea Byrer, the nonprofit holds a special place in her heart.

Byrer told us that last year two relatives were diagnosed with cancer, one of which was diagnosed with breast cancer. Bridget's Gift helps families battling cancer by way of providing funds for treatments, medications, and travel costs.

According to Byrer in 2021, their office raised more than $20,000. Half of that went to Bridget's Gift, which Bryrer says is the biggest donation the nonprofit has ever received from a private business.

Now, the procedure is noninvasive and prices range from $300 to $500 of which 100% goes to people in need. Dr. Barrows' office is located on Avenue A and 20th Street.
