Scam experts want people to be safe when looking to get COVID-19 tests
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - With the uncertainty of how long and just how deadly the Corona-Virus will get, there's good news from Capitol Hill.
News that Uncle Sam plans on sending COVID-19 test to American homes is met with a sigh of some relief. But, while many are eager to accept this life-saving tool.
There are others that see this lifesaver as bait to catch some unsuspecting victims. Scammers are known to use any ploy to get people to divulge personal information.
John Hessinger with the Better Business Burea wants people to know where to go. The government has issued a website where people can register and receive their tests.
Hessinger says if you receive a link via email or text double, maybe even triple check its authenticity. And, if you're asked for any financial information, report it.
