Mexicali starts vaccinating ages 50-59, including pregnant women
MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - COVID vaccines start in Mexicali for adults 50 years old and over, including pregnant women.
The Pfizer vaccine was applied in the La Cachanilla shopping center, where Mexicali residents waited in line for up to three hours. Due to the high demand for the vaccine, the first 500 doses were applied within the first couple of hours, but health officials supplied 500 more throughout the day.
They say vaccines will continue to be administered this week.
Health officials remind the community to keep following protocol and maintain social distancing since Mexicali continues to be in the orange traffic light.
Alonso Óscar Pérez Rico, Secretary of Health in Baja California, said the rest of the cities in Baja California would remain in yellow.
