Local law enforcement combat opioid crisis

Local law enforcement along with the United States Attorney’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency will give presentations on opioid awareness for local communities.

The first presentation will be held in the San Luis High School Auditorium on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

The same presentation will take place in the Cibola High School Auditorium on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Both events will be from 6-7:30 p.m. and all Yuma County families are welcome.

Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD) has continuously collaborated with Yuma County first responders to provide life-saving information to families about drugs and alcohol.

“These presentations are another way of getting vital information to the students and families of Yuma County about a problem that impacts communities across the nation,” YUHSD Associate Superintendent Tim Brienza said.

According to The Center for Disease Control, this year Arizona Law enforcement agencies have seized over 300,000 counterfeit pills — more than double of what was seized in 2018.
