BMW recalls over 29,000 vehicles for fire risk from engine starter

(CBS, KYMA) - BMW is recalling over 29,000 vehicles due to issues with the engine starter relay that may corrode, leading to overheating and short circuit, which increases the risk of a fire.

In a recall notice posted Tuesday, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration advised owners to park "outside and away from structures until the remedy is complete."

The recall covers certain 2018-2020 530e xDrive, 2017-2019 740Le xDrive, 2018-2020 530e iPerformance, and 2016-2018 330e iPerformance vehicles.

BMW has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue. To learn more about the recall, see attached file.
