Toyota recalls over 73,520 vehicles for insufficient pedestrian warning

(CBS, KYMA) - Toyota is recalling 73,528 vehicles for an insufficient pedestrian warning.

The recall covers certain 2023-2025 Corolla Cross Hybrid vehicles, which may fail to make a pedestrian warning sound when in reverse.

The sound may be quieter than intended when the vehicle is operated in reverse, increasing the risk of a pedestrian crash.

In a notice to dealers, Toyota said they estimated the remedy would "be available within the 2nd quarter of 2026" and that once available, it would be free of charge to consumers.

Letters will be sent out to owners by the end of May.
