APS shares tips on safety and saving during extreme heat

PHOENIX (KYMA) - As the Extreme Heat Warning for the Desert Southwest continues, Arizona Public Services is offering tips for customers for saving energy and money.

APS says performing the smallest actions, like changing air filters, checking door seals and adjusting thermostat settings, "can make a difference as cooling systems begin working harder in the weeks and months ahead."

In addition, APS is offering the following tips in order for their customers to save energy and money:

  • Compare APS rate plans to find the right one for them
  • Use ceiling fans efficiently & switch to counterclockwise rotation
  • Replace or clean air filters
  • Raise thermostat a few degrees when they're away
  • Use blinds, curtains and shades strategically
  • Check weather stripping and seals around the doors and windows
  • Schedule an HVAC tune-up
