Gen Z music fans fuel vinyl record sales

(CNN, KYMA) - When it comes to music, many youngsters are going old school as vinyl record sales have risen by an average of 18% per year over the past half-decade.

This is according to a report from Futuresource Consulting's Audio Tech Lifestyles, with analysts saying Gen Z is largely to thank for the boost in sales.

Nearly 60% of Gen Z music fans say they like the aesthetic of records and 37% say they use vinyl to decorate their homes.

One high-profile person who is helping with this boost in vinyl is Taylor Swift as five of her albums were listed in the U.S.' top ten list of best-selling vinyl albums in 2024.
