Medicare announces price cuts for 15 costly prescription drugs

(NBC, KYMA) - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced they are cutting prices for 15 high-priced prescription drugs.

This includes popular GLP-1's Ozempic and Wegovy as well as medications to asthma, cancer, diabetes and other diseases.

The lower prices stem from the medicare negotiation program created under the Biden Administration's Inflation Reduction Act, and will save 36% or on $8.5 billion those medications compared with recent annual spending.

This latest round of price negotiations will go into effect in 2027.
