Gold prices surge to now record high

(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - The price of gold has jumped to a record high on Tuesday.

Gold surged to a new record of just over $3,500 per troy ounce at one point.

According to retentive data, gold has risen over 31% so far this year.

It is considered a safer financial bet amid economic uncertainty.

The rising gold prices comes as concerns about the President Donald Trump's intention to oust Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell weighs in on investors.

Trump has lambasted the federal chief on not lowering interest rates.
