China announces new tariffs this week to combat President Trump’s tariff regime

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - China says it will retaliate to President Donald Trump's tariff regime with steep new tariffs of its own to take effect April 10.

According to China's Customs Agency, it is raising its own tariff on U.S. imports from 34% to 84%.

In their announcement, China's Customs Agency blasted the president's tariff plan as "a mistake on top of a mistake."

Stock indexes across Asia and Europe were sharply lower on Wednesday and U.S. futures indicated yet another day of broad declines.
