Walmart raising truck driver starting wages

(KYMA, KECY) - How would you like to make at least $95,000 a year?

You can as a long-haul truck driver for Walmart.

The company just decided to raise its starting salary for first-year drivers from $88,000 to a range of $95,000 to $110,000.

It's not an easy job to fill, but Walmart is one of the few retail chains that runs its own trucking fleet and has seen a surge in online sales, meaning it needs people to deliver all that stuff.

Last year alone, the company added more than 4,500 drivers, a record hiring spree.

But, there's another element at play here: a shortage of truck drivers during the pandemic.
